Circles Reading
Is there an engineering software that draws circles, measures angles and reads coordinates?
I need to draw circles on X and Y axis, draw some diameters and measure angles and read some coordinates. Is there any software that can do that?
Any of several CAD packages such as Solidworks and Autocad will have that functionality. If you don’t already have access to one of these packages, though, they are likely far more powerful and expensive for your needs. If you look around online you should be able to find some free CAD utilities that will have this basic functionality, but I’m not familiar with any. You might start here, though, http://www.freecad.com/.
If you want the plotting to be done by mathematical equations of circles you could use something like Matlab or Octave (which is free). Again, probably way more than you need.
Your best bet is probably a vector graphics package like xfig or illustrator. I’m not sure if these packages will measure angle, though, although if you can measure the XY location of your circle center and a point on the circumference you can compute angle easily. Xfig is free if you use linux or unix and is quick to learn.
Another simple option might be a photo and graphics package like photoshop or the Gimp (Free and really nice). These are less technical packages, though, and you’ll probably have to do more things manually, whereas the CAD packages will be able to draw in dimensions for diameter and radius inherently.
Again, best bet is probably a simple and free CAD program or a simple vector graphics program.
