Health Care Card Alberta
Question about Alberta health care? PLEASE HELP!?
When I was in Nova Scotia, as long as you had a valid health card you could go to the doctor free of charge, and getting and renewing your health card/health care cost nothing.
I’ve been in Alberta for almost 2 years now and haven’t signed up for health care because I hear I have to pay a monthly fee, just for being recognized by alberta health care and getting that card. Basically, I have to pay monthly for the same things my Nova Scotia health card covered for free. In addition, if I were to sign up with alberta health care, I would have to pay for the 18 months or so I’ve lived here without paying this fee.
Can someone please explain to me the deal? Am I right, wrong, what is the best solution for me? I need to see a doctor but I’m in my early 20′s and don’t have much money….
As of January 1, 2009 there is no more fee for health care here in Alberta. Apply for it right away.
