Why are people so ignorant of the dangers of cell phones?

It is an accepted scientific fact that the electromagnetic waves emitted by cell phones have the potential for disturbing the human body on a cellular level. It has been hypothesized, based upon this knowledge, that there will be an increase in tumors, particularly brain tumors, in the future among those who habitually use cell phones today.

Young people will be particularly susceptible to these types of tumors, according to the scientific research, because the electromagnetic waves emitted by cell phones are particularly damaging to their still developing bodies.

Yet, you see young people, particularly young girls, with their ears constantly glued to cell phones, people constantly on the phone while driving their cars, walking, etc. I was in NYC a while back and it seems every other person walking down the street had a cell phone glued to their ears.

Why are people so trusting of new technology? Do they think the cell phone companies really care about their health?

“Why are people so trusting of new technology?”

Answer: Many individuals blindly believe what they read, see and/or hear. For every argument supporting most “facts”, there is an argument that rebuts said fact. This being said, the collective population is levitated in a perpetual state of confusion. I do not believe that “people” trust or distrust technology new or old. I believe they simply follow the path of least resistance which IS a principle that is supported by all scientific communities.

“Do they think the cell phone companies really care about their health?”

Answer: The purpose of a business is to make money, period. This is accomplished by generating revenue through the sale of a product, service and/or concept. Cell phone companies generate revenue by selling cellular technology. Whether or not they “care” about the health of consumers is not a revenue producing objective albeit there is a PR issue with this profit motive.

On a more personal note, the more immediate danger of cell phones is caused by those who use the devices while driving.

…… and I’m still waiting for blindness caused by watching food cook in my microwave oven……. and I should have developed brain tumors along with every member of my immediate and extended family from having a microwave oven in frequent use in my household. You probably aren’t old enough to remember all the hysteria surrounding microwave ovens when they were first introduced as a kitchen appliance. The hysteria and “scientific” reports made similar claims as those concerning cell phone usage.
I’ve watched at least 500 bags of popcorn pop in a microwave and my vision is fine. Not one member in my family has experienced any sort of neurologic damage as was promised by scientists. Hmmmmmm…….
