Health Care House Vote
Mr. Speaker of the U.S. House in today’s Health Care vote?
During today’s health care vote, I noticed that U.S. house members were addressing their statements and requests to a “Mr. Speaker”, he was an older man wearing glasses.
I thought Nancy Pelosi was the speaker of the house. What role that man play, and why was he calling the shots as Mr. Speaker, I thought there was only one spot occupied by Pelosi.
they probably refer to the house parlimentarian when they say mr. speaker. it is an appointed position, not elected.
