A public option would be useful as competition to the for-profit insurance corporations and would signal true reform. There are humane aspects of the law that will provide health care for the neediest among us-especially children with preexisting conditions (to take effect in 9/10). The insurance industry be prohibited from the act of rescission, and there will no longer be lifetime caps on treatment coverage. This is definitely a start in the right direction.
