Choice. All we are constantly making decisions – what we do, what we say where we go. Even before this work is a choice made.

You choose your own path. You choose your workplace. You choose who to spend time. You choose where you live. You choose what you study. You choose what you do on your time free.

You pick and choose the shackle to be your life.

Often, the decisions you make in the lives of others in a meaningful way as they realize it or not. We had an election in 1993. But let me back up …

Midwives orphanage in making our country Ghana, where they were received I warmly missionaries came in my weekly visit to play with babies. I heard there was a new baby came I wanted to meet. My kids were home from school teen boarding and thought it would be great for the baby to our house for a few days to feed and help my child learn to care for a newborn born. The orphanage directors authorized and encouraged home visits to orphans.

But when I saw the young child, my heart sank. He was only 4 pounds in three weeks. Her perfect little body barely made a dent in his crib. The ladies in charge asked me to make a home visit, but declined quickly. I knew she would be in an incubator to help it survive. Would be traumatic for me, if he died, while in my care.

With my heart that burns in me, I told my husband and three children in the small Zenabu. They all eagerly wanted to bring to our country for a visit. After praying, we decided to take the risk of having that little baby in our care.

Zenabu stayed with us for a few days later stayed with friends missionary of the three days. It almost seemed that he could see growth in our eyes, because he had a good appetite and took two ounces of formula every two hours. Zenabu would!

We are seriously considering adopting Zenabu, but I knew it was an important decision that needs the wisdom of God to make the choice correct. I read in Deuteronomy 30 to my devotions that day and that God has the answer very clear to me. The whole chapter is pretty impressive, but let me share verses 11, 14 and 19. He said: "For this commandment which I command you today is not too difficult for you or is out of reach … But word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, you may notice … I have set before you life and death … choose life, to live, thou and thy seed. "

I guess you can not get a clearer answer than that. "Choose life, you know what to do – It is in your heart" is very may have died if he had not approved Zenabu – do not know.

Back to elections. This, of course, is an example of a great choice. Take Kinza changed the course of his life, my life, my husband's life, the lives of our three sons, and many others.

But even small daily decisions that are important to a healthy lifestyle and emotional. A decision to be happy or grumpy. To take a decision to love or not. In making a decision to forgive or rancor. In making a decision to try again after a failure or not. The list is long. Your choice can determine your success in life.

What kind of choices are you making? Large or small, are creating your life plan.

We decided Kinza take (great choice). Later, when Kinza is 7 years, we have chosen to buy a second hand piano (a choice of medium). Kinza then chose faithfully practice the piano when he was playing in place (small selection). At age 17, became a pianist, even composing his own pieces – All because a number of options.

Choices are powerful. Choose consciously. Choose well. Remember that the choices you can make having a partner, too. And all these options strung up his life story.

You can not control what every happens to you, but you can check your answers. The choice after all, are yours.

Damaged Care - $24.99 Damaged Care is fact-based drama about the managed care industry. It originally aired on Showtime. Laura Dern co-produced and stars in the film as Dr. Linda Peeno, who gives up her career after earning a medical degree, so that she can take care of her family. Her husband, Doug (James LeGros), is a successful OB/GYN. In 1987, when their children (from previous marriages) have gotten a little older, Linda decides to return to work, and gets a job as a medical reviewer at Humana Health Care. Patient claims that aren’t approved by the UR (utilization review) nurses are forwarded to the doctors on the medical review team, who, Linda learns, are expected to rubber-stamp the UR nurses’ decisions. Every decision Linda makes to cover a patient’s care is questioned, sometimes angrily. The head of the UR department, Cheryl Griffith (Regina King) befriends Linda, and shares her unhappiness with the system. Linda has a crisis of conscience when she gets a call about an emergency heart transplant that needs immediate approval. Pressured by the company, she finds an out in the employer’s healthcare booklet, and denies the claim. The patient dies. Eventually, Linda quits Humana (angering Doug), and Cheryl gets her a job at a smaller, non-profit company, Brothers Managed Care. The system is pretty much the same, though, and Linda comes into conflict with the cost-conscious head of the UR nurses, Gemma Coombs (Michelle Clunie). When a nurse (Suki Kaiser) is stricken with a series of crippling strokes, Linda takes a stand against the company to get her the treatment she needs. Eventually, Dr. Linda Peeno gets out of the system, and becomes an outspoken critic of the abuses of the health care industry. The disc takes in the music of several tribes, including the Muslim Mamprusi and Kusasi and the Christian Dagarti and Frafra. Free of any of the wind instruments or sundry percussion prevalent in the region, the first two cuts spotlight the longstanding drum and vocal tradition of the Mamprusi and Grunshi with call-and-response pieces full of rough-toned singing and the sounds of the village where the recordings were made. Varying the tonal textures, the next two pieces feature singers accompanying themselves with a calabash rattle (siyari) and a bowed lute (gonje), respectively; while the first performer delivers some amazingly spry and complex rhythms on the rattle, the second singer overwhelms the listener with an impassioned vocal performance. More textures arise listening to a Dagarti ensemble comprised of three xylophone players and another one featuring drums, flutes, and singers. Not for fans expecting studio slick worldbeat or even Ghana’s popular guitar highlife music, but a rewarding listen for those comfortable with the gruff sound of field recordings. ~ Stephen Cook
