Hip and lumbar pain on one side after lifting something too heavy?

I lifted the gate to a horse trailer that was way too heavy for one person, and felt immediate pain in right hip/lumbar area. The pain has increased, is non-stop, and includes painful flare-ups, especially with movement. Hurts hip to put any weight on leg, and worst pain of all is when I am sitting, legs outstretched, trying to lift my leg even an inch. This is excruciating. When I stand, it feels like my hip/buttocks/inner thigh is on fire. Heat, nor ice, brings relief. What is likely going on? I know I over-extended my lower back muscle, but my hip is the part the hurts. A recent bone density test shows very early signs of osteo-arthritis. I’m 37.

The swirling organ and sparse bass do their jobs as well to further bolster the acoustic guitar-driven opening track, “Mad Woman Blues.” It serves as the signature, cornerstone piece setting the tone and kicking off a terrifically intriguing series of 12 tunes. These juxtaposed instrumental choices and themes weave in and out of the sonic landscape, making room for other just as titillating production elements such as world-tinged percussion grooves, guitars on the brink of distortion, way-hip sampled bits and beats, processed vocal parts, and more. Morris’ smoky voice is the common thread holding it all together. Her performances dance from sultry to sassy in the blink of an eye (or the change of a track, as the case may be). From moment to moment, you might think of Garbage, Moby, Alison Moyet, or Primitive Radio Gods, or even reach as far as Erykah Badu. But while those works might seem similar, Love and Pain is something else altogether, and it’s pretty darn cool. ~ Kelly McCartney

No More Pain $26.99 Still powering their way to the top of the boy band rankings whenever they release an album, in No More Pain Kat-Tun show that they are continuing to develop musically, but at the same time their sounds hark back to other boy bands and earlier musical ideas. The album opens in epic fashion, signaling a comeback despite the band not having left the scene. They go through a couple of simpler affairs quickly, but come back for a particularly tweaked piece of electro-dance with “The D-Motion” and an extra dose of Auto-Tune over steeper electro-dance in the vein of Juno Reactor with “Right Now.” Corniness seeps in during the following track, and remains for a while in the middle of the album. The standard selection of solo tracks from the various members is thrown into the mix on No More Pain rather than relegated to an add-on disc, a refreshing attempt to both fill space and make the solo numbers more relevant. There’s a simple but nice ballad in the early-’90s U.S. R&B vein from Kamenashi Kazuya, a bit of rap that actually works out well from Taguchi Junno (he makes strong use of the syllabic structure of Japanese), and Tanaka Koki provides a bit of fairly straightforward dance music. The remaining members put together interesting bits, both forgettable (Ueda Tatsuya) and memorable (Nakamura Yuichi’s attempt at a Ken Hirai-like pop number). The album finally finishes up with classic Kat-Tun motifs in “Hello,” combining acoustic guitar, drum machines, and a marching beat. The album doesn’t deliver anything new to the world of Japanese boy bands, but it keeps Kat-Tun in form. They don’t obviously improve on previous works or detract from their legacy, as it were. Chris Rock: Bring The Pain - $14.99 Chris Rock’s first HBO comedy special proved to be a breakthrough for the stand-up comic, who at the time was best known for his stint on Saturday Night Live. Filmed in front of a live audience in Washington, D.C., Bring the Pain revived Rock’s then-stagnant career and made him the face of black comedy in America seemingly overnight. Opening with a montage of comedy albums by Rock’s influences — Bill Cosby, Woody Allen, and Richard Pryor are among those name-checked — the show finds Rock in top form as he moves nimbly from topical cracks (a bit on O.J. is a highlight) to relationship jokes to biting commentary on the state of black America.
