First the vet helps slaughter the inhabitants of a village during the war and then he is captured and tortured for two years. After that scenario, he winds up in a low-life neighborhood in New York owing drug money, saddled with a chunky, nagging, ugly wife and a little baby who inherited his mother’s genes. Though its music tends to sound somewhat like a dissonant Gary Numan (heavy on the synthesizers), you’d never guess that the band’s drums were mechanically performed unless you were told. The robo-drummer was conceived and built by Matt Steinke, who’s also responsible for the two short Brothers-Quay-meets-Pee-Wee’s-Playhouse style animation films that are on the CD-ROM part of the disc.
