Sicko Health Care Movie

I understand that our health care system urgently needs reform as evidenced by Michael Moore's film Sicko? BUT?
after the see this, do not think a universal government health care is the answer? Why http://www.therealcuba.com/Page10.htm use Cuba? because that is where Michael Moore takes people's eyes show that I have health insurance, and it's great. I do not pay a penny an advantage to the sound of my work. Why pay more taxes so that poor people can not do it too? because I chose my job if I can get.
The health care system in this country is great if you can keep the freaking government out of it. Lets face it – anything that affects the government screw it up – health care is no different – theyhad to add more taxes on your paycheck to pay for medical care (Medicaid and Medicare), because I had to start th emoney. So now, even if you use it, you payments that a stranger is using your money to pay for your care, because it is too lazy to get a real job and decides to aim for the company in place. It's so bad that if edoctors and not having a guarantee of payment – as they do form a government or other insurance – you have to pay more, while others – do not take my word for it – it will by it – I say that if you do not have insurance and want to pay money – they charge you more if you have insurance when the government intervenes and guarantees a specific payment on the price rises maixmum admitted – why wouldnt – subsidies for free at the hospital – all they want is the money like any other business – if your company has the capacity their prices to fluctuate between 20 and 30 dollars (without loss or fbusiness at each price) and its price would be paid to people – me, me no matter what larger than the left wing Mikey Moore has to say – is a big girl – Almost as good as Limbagh right – LOL – the story continues to repeat itself unless we do something different – this is not is an exception – if we allow the government continue to intervene when they also lost everyhting affecting other

Sicko (Special Edition) $1.90 SiCKO is more like a controlled howl of protest than a documentary. Toning down the rhetoric of past efforts–no CEOs, congressmen, or celebrities were accosted in the making of this film–Michael Moore’s latest provocation is just as heartfelt, if not more heartbreaking. As he clarifies from the outset, his subject isn’t the 45 million Americans without insurance, but those whose coverage has fai… |

Sicko – Widescreen $12.99 After exploring the predominance of violence in American culture in Bowling for Columbine and taking a critical look at the September 11th attacks in Fahrenheit 9/11, activist filmmaker Michael Moore turns his attentions toward the topic of health care in the United States in this documentary that weighs the plight of the uninsured (and the insured who must deal with abuse from insurance companies) against the record-breaking profits of the pharmaceutical industry. Moore interviews a number of people who have been left broke by medical bills even though they were fully insured, and explains how the corporate drive for profits has left numerous people in financial and medical disarray. After hearing that detainees in Guantanamo have access to free health care, Moore assembles a group of World Trade Center rescue workers to travel to Cuba in order to get the medical help they need for ailments they incurred in 2001. Moore’s film debuted at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi |

Damaged Care - $24.99 Damaged Care is fact-based drama about the managed care industry. It originally aired on Showtime. Laura Dern co-produced and stars in the film as Dr. Linda Peeno, who gives up her career after earning a medical degree, so that she can take care of her family. Her husband, Doug (James LeGros), is a successful OB/GYN. In 1987, when their children (from previous marriages) have gotten a little older, Linda decides to return to work, and gets a job as a medical reviewer at Humana Health Care. Patient claims that aren’t approved by the UR (utilization review) nurses are forwarded to the doctors on the medical review team, who, Linda learns, are expected to rubber-stamp the UR nurses’ decisions. Every decision Linda makes to cover a patient’s care is questioned, sometimes angrily. The head of the UR department, Cheryl Griffith (Regina King) befriends Linda, and shares her unhappiness with the system. Linda has a crisis of conscience when she gets a call about an emergency heart transplant that needs immediate approval. Pressured by the company, she finds an out in the employer’s healthcare booklet, and denies the claim. The patient dies. Eventually, Linda quits Humana (angering Doug), and Cheryl gets her a job at a smaller, non-profit company, Brothers Managed Care. The system is pretty much the same, though, and Linda comes into conflict with the cost-conscious head of the UR nurses, Gemma Coombs (Michelle Clunie). When a nurse (Suki Kaiser) is stricken with a series of crippling strokes, Linda takes a stand against the company to get her the treatment she needs. Eventually, Dr. Linda Peeno gets out of the system, and becomes an outspoken critic of the abuses of the health care industry. Dern’s mother, Diane Ladd, and Adam Arkin also appear in the film. ~ Josh Ralske, Rovi |

Saint Misbehavin’: The Wavy Gravy Movie - $24.99 Born in 1936, Hugh Romney was an improvisational actor and standup comic who befriended Lenny Bruce and Bob Dylan when he settled in New York’s Greenwich Village in the early ’60s. Romney’s career took him to the West Coast in the mid-’60s, where he fell in with Ken Kesey’s Merry Pranksters and became a key figure in the early days of the hippie movement. Adopting the nickname “Wavy Gravy,” he embraced the persona of a playful clown, in part because he observed that hippies got arrested at protest marches, but clowns in parades did not. Wavy Gravy and his wife formed a commune in Berkley, CA, called the Hog Farm, and members of the group were hired to help with security at the Woodstock rock festival in 1969, with Romney dubbing his group “The Please Force.” Wavy Gravy became one of the more visible figures in the ’60s counterculture scene, but unlike some of his peers, he never lost track of the ideals that came to symbolize the decade; well into his seventies, Wavy Gravy still works on behalf of environmental concerns, operates a camp (Camp Winnarainbow) that teaches clowning to homeless and underprivileged children, helps run a charitable organization (the Seva Foundation) that funds eye care for the poor in the Third World, and works with children living with brain injuries. Described by his friend Paul Krasner as “the illegitimate son of Harpo Marx and Mother Theresa,” Hugh Romney’s remarkable life story is brought to the screen by filmmaker Michelle Esrick in the documentary Saint Misbehavin’: The Wavy Gravy Movie. The film had its world premiere at the 2009 South by Southwest Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi |

A special half-hour discussion of heart disease hosted by Larry King and offering heart healthy tips from medical experts follows the program. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi Fat: What No One Is Telling You Per its title, thePBS special Fat: What No One is Telling You weighs in on obesity – that silent and subtly menacing American epidemic that afflicts a whopping 66% of U.S. adults. In lieu of exploring the oft-mentioned physiological dangers of this problem, however, this documentary raises the key question of why fat can be so difficult to shed – with a glimpse at the contributing factors in the psychological, physiological and emotional realms. In so doing, the film pulls in revelatory information about hunger, metabolism, and gastronomic consumption. As an added bonus, the film features candid and intimate interviews with everyday Americans who recount sobering stories about the obstacles that, for them, stand in the way of a trim and healthy body. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi The Truth About Cancer This documentary by filmmaker Linda Garmon traces the lives of people diagnosed with cancer, as well as family members of those patients. The project began when Garmon’s husband entered a battle with the illness, and the hospital where he underwent treatment became the central location for the movie. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi Depression: Out of the Shadows This documentary takes a look at how depression can affect anyone, regardless of age, race, or gender. Although more than 18 million Americans suffer from the illness, depression still retains a certain stigma in the public eye. This program hopes to educate by interviewing people who live with depression. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi |

Garfield: The Movie/Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties [2 Discs] – Widescreen Fullscreen $14.99 Includes:Garfield: The Movie (2004), MPAA Rating: PG Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (2006), MPAA Rating: PG Garfield: The Movie Jim Davis’ famous cartoon cat finally makes his way to the big screen in this adaptation of the popular comic strip Garfield, which combines live action with CGI animation. Jon Arbuckle (Breckin Meyer) is a sweet, if somewhat clueless, man who shares his home with his pet cat, Garfield (voice of Bill Murray). Garfield is not your ordinary tabby — he’s fat, he’s smart-mouthed, he’s arrogant, he won’t do anything he doesn’t have to, and would rather stuff himself with lasagna than do something Jon asks of him. Despite this, Jon loves his cat, but when he decides to expand his animal family, Garfield is less than enthusiastic about the presence of Odie, a lovably enthusiastic dog whose only flaw is his extreme stupidity. While Jon is crazy for Odie, and especially likes having two pets that necessitate periodic visits to Dr. Liz Wilson (Jennifer Love Hewitt), a veterinarian he has a crush on, Garfield decides to remove Odie from the picture. Garfield arranges for Odie to become the property of Happy Chapman (Stephen Tobolowsky), a television host who acts like an animal lover on the round-cornered screen but doesn’t much like pets on his own time. While Garfield at first enjoys ruling the roost again, he soon realizes the error of his ways, and in a rare example of selfless and ambitious behavior, hatches a plan to rescue Odie from Chapman. Garfield also features the voice talents of Debra Messing, Brad Garrett, Jimmy Kimmel, and Alan Cumming. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties The laziest cat in America swaps places with the richest feline in England in director Tim Hill’s lasagna-laden sequel to the 2004 theatrical hit Garfield. Jon Arbuckle (Breckin Meyer) is on his way to London to propose to his veterinarian girlfriend, Liz Wilson (Jennifer Love Hewitt), and his unflappable cat, Garfield, is determined to be there when Jon pops the big question. Of course, Garfield wouldn’t go anywhere without his old pal Odie, and soon after arriving in the land of Big Ben, the clueless tomcat inadvertently changes places with royal look-a-like Prince. It seems that Prince’s owner, Lady Eleanor, has recently passed away, leaving the care of her sprawling estate Castle Carlyle in the capable paws of her devoted kitty companion. The trouble is, Prince has decided it’s due time for a vacation, and with Garfield in charge there’s no telling what kind of trouble will befall Castle Carlyle. Despite having a devoted butler named Smithee (Ian Abercrombie) to cater to his every whim and a whole host of fun-loving critters with whom to pass the lazy days spent lounging in the sun, this crowned head begins to feel the sting of deceit as the envious Lord Dargis (Billy Connolly) hatches a dastardly plan to do away with the whiskered heir and claim Castle Carlyle all to himself. Meanwhile, as Garfield attempts to hold his ground |

Superman: The Movie - $14.99 Richard Donner’s big-budget blockbuster Superman: The Movie is an immensely entertaining recounting of the origin of the famous comic book character. Opening on Krypton (where Marlon Brando plays Superman’s father), the film follows the Man of Steel (Christopher Reeve) as he’s sent to Earth where he develops his alter-ego Clark Kent and is raised by a Midwestern family. In no time, the movie has run through his teenage years, and Clark gets a job at the Daily Planet, where he is a news reporter. It’s there that he falls in love with Lois Lane (Margot Kidder), who is already in love with Superman. But the love story is quickly sidetracked once the villainous Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) launches a diabolical plan to conquer the world and kill Superman. Superman: The Movie is filled with action, special effects and a surprising amount of humor. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi |

Dirt! The Movie - $24.99 The expression “common as dirt” wouldn’t exist if there weren’t an awful lot of dirt in this world. But is there as much as we think — or even as much as we need? And what’s been happening to it? Dirt is the outer layer of the Earth and the place where nearly all the world’s vegetation comes to life, but the 20th Century was a bad time for dirt — the rise of corporate farming practices have led to reliance of fertilizers with negative long-term effects on the soil, while clear-cutting of rainforests and global warming are making it harder to grow the food the world needs, making workable soil an increasingly scarce commodity. Filmmakers Bill Benenson and Gene Rosow offer a witty but incisive look at dirt, what’s in it, how it’s used and how we must protect it in the documentary Dirt! The Movie. Adapted in part from the book Dirt! The Ecstatic Skin of Earth by William Bryant Logan, Dirt! The Movie received its world premiere at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi |

The Slog Movie - $14.99 Musician-turned-filmmaker David Markey directed this low-budget look at the Southern California punk rock scene in the early ’80s. Shot on Super-8, Slog Movie offers a fan’s perspective on the bands and the music that dominated SoCal punk back in the day, and features classic performances from the Circle Jerks, Fear, TSOL, Red Cross (before they became Redd Kross), and Circle One shot on-stage at the Whiskey a Go-Go, the Cuckoo’s Nest, Club 88, and other noted venues. Black Flag appeared in the original version of Slog Movie, but guitarist and leader Greg Ginn refused to grant permission for his appearance in the DVD reissue; the rest of the band is shown, but Ginn is obscured while the audio is left blank throughout the number. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi |
