So just yesterday I got a non-removable palate expander in and i have to crank it every 3 days. So i guess my palate doesn’t need to be expanded a lot? *shrug*
Also, Is there any information on opening the jaw a little more that helps people not snore?

2 (Japan) (Shm) $47.99 Personnel includes: Eumir Deodato (arranger, conductor, keyboards, synthesizer); Joe Temperley (baritone saxophone); Burt Collins, Jon Faddis, Victor Paz, Marvin Stamm (trumpet, flugelhorn); Jim Buffington, Brooks Tillotson (French horn); Wayne Andre, Garnett Brown, Tony Studd (trombone); Jerry Dodgion, Hubert Laws (flute); Harry Cykman, Max Ellen, Paul Gershman (violin); Alfred Brown, Emanuel Vardi (viola); Charles McCracken, George Ricci, Alan Shulman (cello); John Tropea (guitar); Stanley Clarke, John Giulino (bass); Billy Cobham, Rick Marotta (drums); Rubens Bassini, Gilmore Degap (congas, percussion).Producer: Creed Taylor.Reissue producer: Didier C. Deutsch.Recorded at Van Gelder Studios, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey in 1973. Includes liner notes by Didier C. Deutsch. All tracks have been digitally remastered.Deodato’s debut for CTI, Prelude, earned him a genuine reputation for funky fusion with its groove-tight cover of “Thus Spake Zarathustra,” the theme from Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. The rest of the album isn’t quite as memorable, but it fit the bill and got nice reviews for its innovative read of Borodin and Debussy’s “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun.” On 2, the Brazilian composer and arranger dips into the funked-up fusion formula tank once again, and comes out with a more consistent disc than its predecessor. Arranged, conducted, and keyboarded by Deodato himself instead of CTI house arrangers Don Sebesky or Bob James, the maestro enlisted a fusion who’s who of sidemen including drummer Billy Cobham, bassist Stanley Clarke, and flutist Hubert Laws, as well as rockers like John Tropea on guitar. The larger ensemble that provides brass, woodwind, and string support includes trumpeter Jon Faddis and Jim Buffington. “Super Strut” kicks it off. Deep-grooved lines of accented angular riffing and rim-shot syncopation by Cobham turn this simply notated four-stepper into a burning ball of greasy rock and souled-out jazz. This is followed by a wildly campy but nonetheless wondrous read of “Rhapsody in Blue” done Stevie Wonder-style. Deodato’s keyboard work never lets the groove drop; he pulls the rhythm section down around him and hunkers his phrasing to punch up the long, sweeping horns and string lines. Less successful is a read of “Nights in White Satin,” with its overwrought strings, and a “Pavane for a Dead Princess” that’s a snore. The album officially closes with “Skyscrapers,” another jazz-rock rave-up that blasts holes in the sonic sky with its dueling keyboard and guitar lines. [The remastered version of the CD includes three bonus tracks that include a steamy little bossa nova number, "Latin Flute," with Laws tearing up the solo spot, and a lounge lizard's dream of a cover version in Steely Dan's "Do It Again," with flutes and keys trading the melody lines and Tropea's wah-wah guitars chunking up the backbeat. Why this wasn't on the original album or a follow-up is a mystery.] ~ Thom Jurek |

WWE: The New and Improved! DX – Fullscreen Dolby $12.99 Few wrestling fans will deny that 2006 was the year of the Degenerate, and no matter how hard Vince McMahon and the powers that be at the WWE strain to deny it, the masses know that D-Generation X was the number one draw for Raw all year long. With this release the fans can finally find out the truth about the once-disbanded team that would become a thorn in the side of wrestling’s biggest promoter after reforming in 2006. It’s all here, from the hints dropped at WrestleMania to the memorable skips, unbelievable promos, and jaw-dropping matches. For anyone who ever wondered what truly happened when D-Generation X hijacked the Raw production truck, vandalized WWE’s corporate jet, and unleashed general chaos on the organization for an entire year, interviews and backstage footage tell the remarkable story of a duo whose depravity truly knows no depth. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi |

Leviathan [LP] $24.98 Knowing that Mastodon is an offshoot of pioneering progressive post-hardcore band Today Is the Day may give prospective listeners a clue as to what awaits them on LEVIATHAN, but will probably not prepare them for the sheer metallic thrust and organic complexity of the Mastodon sound. Often recalling the most jaw-droppingly facile passages from Rush’s 2112 mixed with the heaviest bits of Metallica’s MASTER OF PUPPETS, the group’s music is slightly less heady than that of peers Dillinger Escape Plan or Coalesce, but no less technically demanding. The difference may be Mastodon’s obvious roots in metal rather than hardcore or emo; even the screaming vocals sound more like Slayer than Sick of It All. LEVIATHAN is at once serpentine and thundering, simultaneously positioning itself as one of the genre’s most ambitious and accessible works, delivering 10 tracks that more than live up to the mammoth image suggested by the disc’s MOBY DICK-inspired cover art and lyrics. |

Street Lethal (Japan) (Mlps) $47.99 Racer X’s 1986 debut is essentially a showcase for then teenaged guitar prodigy Paul Gilbert. The opening instrumental, “Frenzy,” pretty much lays the cards on the table; a mostly unaccompanied survey of Gilbert’s jaw-dropping fretboard tricks, it summarizes Street Lethal’s modus operandi right at the outset. Gilbert himself described Racer X as “heavy metal with scary guitars,” and that’s pretty much what you get — skillfully executed, Judas Priest-style metal (with flag-waving songtitles like “Hotter Than Fire,” “Loud and Clear,” and “Rock It,”) loaded with gobs of Gilbert’s virtuosity. Vocalist Jeff Martin adds appropriately Rob Halford-esque howls to the proceedings, and the rhythm section do their part in maintaining the excitement. For fans of the “shred” guitar genre, this album has plenty to drool over. ~ Andy Hinds |

Piano Grand Master [Box] $22.99 Includes a 44 page booklet.Largely self-taught, Art Tatum became one of the most accomplished pianists of the 20th century, and his polyrhythmic inventiveness on the instrument has seldom — if ever — been equaled. British record label Proper has assembled a budget-priced, four-disc box set spanning Tatum’s prime years, an impressive 90-plus tracks (and a detailed 44 page booklet) that showcase the speed and clarity of this amazing musician. Most of the tracks are Tatum playing solo, but highlights from a 1944 all-star jazz concert at the Esquire Metropolitan Opera House are also included, as well as cuts from the Art Tatum Trio, with Tiny Grimes on guitar and Slam Stewart on bass. Tatum is generally considered a stride pianist, but he was so much more, and dropping in anywhere on these four discs will reveal some jaw-dropping piano music. Nowhere to Hide – Subtitle $12.99 Korean maverick auteur Lee Myung-Se directs this wildly exuberant, genre-crunching, police-comedy action flick. Held together with only the barest of plot elements, this film is a gleeful romp through a litany of film styles and references. Following a gangland murder in a popular Seoul shopping area, bumptious, cock-sure detective Woo ( Lee regular Park Joong Hoon) and his marginally more contemplative partner Kim (Jang Dong-gun) comb the city for the killer (former heartthrob Ahn Sung-Ki). Woo stumbles from one jaw-dropping sequence of stylized violence to another until he has his final two-fisted showdown with the killer. Nowhere to Hide was the second-highest-grossing film of 1999 in Korea and an audience favorite at the 1999 Pusan Film Festival and the 2000 Sundance Festival. ~ Jonathan Crow, Rovi |

Jayne Mansfield Collection [3 Discs] - $44.99 Includes:The Girl Can’t Help It (1956) Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? (1957) The Sheriff of Fractured Jaw (1958) The Girl Can’t Help It The inimitable writer-director Frank Tashlin once more aims his satiric barbs at modern culture (modern 1950s culture, that is) in The Girl Can’t Help It. Much of the film is dominated by Edmond O’Brien as mob boss Murdock, who while serving a term in federal prison becomes a singing sensation with his hit tune “Rock Around the Rock Pile.” Once he’s sprung, Murdock hires impoverished agent Tom Miller (Tom Ewell), not to promote his own career, but to turn his curvaceous lady friend Jerri Jordan (Jayne Mansfield) into a star. Alas, Jerri has no singing or acting talent whatsoever, a fact that she’s eager and willing to admit. A domestic type at heart, all Jerri really wants out of life is to marry Murdock, so that she can clean his house, cook his meals and raise his children. When Murdock refuses to grant her wishes, Jerri falls in love with Tom instead. Every so often, director Tashlin takes time out from the plot to poke fun at such technical marvels as CinemaScope and Technicolor, and to lampoon the American male’s fixation on female bosoms and bottoms (at one point, Jayne Mansfield leans towards the camera, her cleavage exposed as far as the censors will allow, and plaintively asks Tom Ewell if he believes that she’s equipped for motherhood). While much of the humor in the film is dated, The Girl Can’t Help It is an invaluable record of the pop-music scene of the 1950s, featuring such guest artists as Julie London (playing Tom Ewell’s dream girl), Ray Anthony, Fats Domino, The Platters, Little Richard and his Band, Gene Vincent and his Blue Caps, the Treniers, Eddie Fontaine, Abbey Lincoln and Eddie Cochran. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? Jayne Mansfield recreated her starmaking stage role in this film adaptation of George Axelrod’s Broadway comedy. Mansfield plays a Monroe-like movie queen whom adman Tony Randall hopes to sign for a product endorsement. Through a fluke, the press believes that Randall is having an affair with Mansfield; she eagerly pounces on the attendant publicity, much to the dismay of her body-builder beau (Mickey Hargitay, then married to Mansfield). At the behest of his ad agency, Randall is forced to propose to Mansfield on a coast-to-coast TV show, which breaks the heart of his true love (Betsy Drake). Both Randall and Mansfield are saved from a marriage neither one wants by the last-minute arrival of Mansfield’s hometown boy friend (Groucho Marx). Director Frank Tashlin uses Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter as an excuse to take satirical potshots at everything from TV commercials to the unwieldiness of CinemaScope. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi The Sheriff of Fractured Jaw Kenneth More portrays a British gunsmith who travels to the American West. After winning a rigged poker game, More is appointed sheriff of Fractured Jaw, a wide-open town where law officers are plugged |
